Abstract
Recently, open source adoption has been spreading rapidly worldwide. Many organizations found that using open source solution not only provide them with secure, robust, and high performance platform but also help them getting faster return of investment and cutting the cost. This is even more important under current economic situation. However, there is still a need to understand the right business model and practice that can lead to the effective use of open source technology.
In this talk, Mr. Young will share his experience with open source technology and business model. The talk will be with a 60/40 business/software focus and address many interesting topic such as what really is an open source software? How can businesses can benefit from Open source software?. Finally, there will be a live discussion with audiences about the open source area.
Biography
Mr. Young is currently working as a System Engineer at the EUROCONTROL Central Flight Management Unit. Enterprise class HW/SW, large datacentre and associated infrastructure. His work is on risk assessment, analysis, management and control, the strict use of project management/Change control procedures and requirement for high quality structured documentation.
Mr. Young is a professional System Engineer with 25+ years extensive experience with the European Space Agency (Netherlands), Center for European Nuclear Research , CERN (Switzerland), Hewlett Packard (Belgium/Sweden) and European Organization for the safety of air navigation, EUROCONTROL (Belgium). He is a HP Certified HP-UX System Administrator , RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE) and VMware Certified Professional (VCP). He got his BSc Computer Studies at Sheffield City Polytechnic in 1984
